The following is the will of John Ewell, the father of Sara Ewell, the wife of Alexander Kimbro.

John Ewell departed this life in Bedford County in the year 1826.

Will of John Ewell:

To my wife Mary Ewell, slaves, household and kitchen furniture, & cows and horses. Appointed his brother Leighton Ewell who lives out side State of Tennessee, as one of the executors, if he would remove to Tennessee, but if he failed to move, he wished him replaced by Dabney Ewell (brother) and Jonathan Webster appointed as executors. Jonathan Webster is now dead and Dabney Ewell now resides in Coffee County, Tennessee. Widow Mary Ewell died in 1861. Daughter Martha who married William P. Chamberlain and living in Arkansas. Daughter Anna who married Asa M. Elkins, living in Texas and Anna died in Texas Ca 1851. Son John lives in Louisiana. Daughter Lucy who married S.W. Hall. Daughter Catherine who married George W. Heard. Daughter Virginia who married John H. Scott. Daughter Sarah who married Alexander Kimbro. Son K. Ewell. Son Joseph Ewell. Son Leighton Ewell departed this life after his father in 1831, out of state, and left two children Ann E. who married David R. Vance on the 24th day of August 1848, divided all personal and real property. Son Thomas Ewell died unmarried years ago. Son Maxey Ewell who died unmarried named slaves, August 1848:
